The J Noosa, Noosa Heads
Tue 4 July to Sun 30 July
It’s a familiar tale – regional artists leaving their hometowns to pursue arts education and careers in metropolitan areas. One prominent Queensland example is Ian Smith, who was born in Cairns and studied a Diploma of Art and Design at the Prahran College of Technology in Melbourne. Smith has enjoyed a successful career as a painter, spanning over 50 years. Drawn from the McCrea Collection, this exhibition of works is imbued with a tension between an urban practice and a regional lens.
